AFGE Local 1501 is a proud chapter of the American Federation of Government Employees, representing Department of Defense civilian employees at McChord Field, as well as workers from the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) and the Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Fairchild AFB, and Mountain Home AFB.
Our mission is to protect the rights, improve the working conditions, and enhance the quality of life for federal employees who support our nation's defense operations. We advocate for fair treatment, job security, and equitable pay, serving as a strong voice for our members in negotiations, workplace disputes, and policy decisions.
Through unity and solidarity, AFGE Local 1501 ensures that those who serve behind the scenes are respected, supported, and heard.
AFGE 1501 is a union that fights for workers' rights across all industries. We are dedicated to ensuring that workers have a voice and are treated fairly in the workplace.
Joining the union gives you a stronger voice at work, better job protection, and support when you need it most. AFGE fights for fair pay, safe working conditions, and respect on the job. With the union behind you, you’re never alone—you're part of a team that stands up for your rights and your future.
Payroll dues deduction is on the chopping block. Without our dues, our union cannot continue to fight for you. E-Dues is our secure, union-run system that they can’t take away.
AFGE isn’t going anywhere. But we need every one of us in the fight.
Take action and get involved with AFGE 1501's advocacy efforts. We offer opportunities for members to participate in campaigns, organize events, and more.
Becoming an AFGE union steward is a rewarding way to stand up for fairness and support your coworkers. As a steward, you serve as a bridge between employees and management, helping resolve issues, enforce the contract, and protect workers’ rights. The role builds valuable skills in communication, leadership, and problem-solving. Stewards receive training in labor laws and grievance procedures, empowering them to make a real impact in the workplace. It’s a meaningful way to promote respect, equity, and a stronger union.
